I am thrilled to tell you Parallax Press will publish Ocean of Insight: A Sailor’s Voyage Deep into the Climate Crisis in Fall 2016. They are my favorite publisher because they also produce and distribute worldwide the inspiring works of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.
With the book deal came a “developmental editor” named Jennifer. I love this woman. She and I made a timeline for finishing the book on schedule. Every two months I send her three chapters and she reads and comments on them so I can make improvements throughout the writing period. Ours is an extraordinary relationship in an industry oft criticized for ignoring first-time authors.
What’s more, I have a marketing team (a MARKETING TEAM!) and they want me to share with you–FOR FREE–the unique experiences and useful spiritual technologies I write about in the book. That’s something I know how to do, for sure. What I need from you is your feedback. What works? What needs improving? I am bursting with fresh content ideas and enthusiasm and I’m anxious to use the blog to create the book together.
But before I begin, I want to say I missed writing you these past few months. My move from Wisconsin to South Carolina–while husband Dave sailed on the trip-of-a-lifetime across the Atlantic–devoured my writing energies faster than a southern boy sucks bones at a rib-eating contest. Dave and I are now re-nested in a home outside Charleston, close to my beloved Atlantic Ocean. It is time to get back to the work of telling stories, testing spiritual technologies, and making meaning so all of us can figure out how to be and be happy in this challenging world.
